Why This Book?
- Because it is relevant;
- Because Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias are on the rise;
- Because the impact on society is becoming more and more devastating;
- Because vast numbers of people are burning out as they care for their loved one - whether it be a parent or a spouse;
- Because care givers and their loved ones are desperate for help and reassurance of any kind.
While there are many great books on this subject, the author is passionate that her book can be that vehicle of hope, comfort, compassion and understanding - because it was written from the heart, and with much love. She sincerely believes the love within it will reach out and touch the hearts of readers and envelope them in a sense of warmth and peace, letting them know that they are not alone as they struggle on their own nightmare of a journey. As a point of interest, this self-published book, now in it's third printing, has resonated so profoundly in the heart of one reader that she is now reading it for the fourth time!
What Readers Are Saying About This Book
I read your book on my trip and thoroughly enjoyed it - I must say I shed a few tears....." Debra"
"I lent your book to a girl from work as her Mother-In-Law has the disease. She found the book so VERY VERY Good and such a help to her and her husband....." Shelagh
"I should have been in touch a long time ago after reading your wonderful book. I walked with you, through many of the chapters and was pleased to read that you, too, lost your patience, and lashed out, just like I did. People who have not had the same experience cannot possibly understand what it is like to live with Alzheimer's and to see a beloved person lose ground, inch by inch....." Helve
"I have just read a book that dealt with many of the same circumstances and feeling shared by anyone who is placed in the position of taking care of a loved one in their final days, months or years. It is titled "In The Arms of The Angels". The author is my sister-in-law, Janet Lewis Anderson. I would recommend this book as a source of support for the many people who face this challenge every day....." Karyn
"You sure made me realize I am not and was not alone. At the time I went through these things, I felt so isolated although I had wonderful friends who took care of me and supported me. I always sensed I had a whole lot of guilt and anger tucked away but you brought it out. This is good because I can deal with it but I am still angry that Mom had to go through this. As I read your story, I shed many tears but also laughed. All the way through the book, it felt so comforting to know that what Mom and I went through was not an isolated experience. But the last paragraph for me was the most powerful. when I read the words "I can now recognize the love, courage and grace from this, our journey through the darkness of dementia", I sat up straight. I started to cry but not because I was sad but I suddenly realized how much strength I had, how much love my Mom and I shared and how we really did get through it all. I suddenly remembered our last visit. Now, I am going to sit down and read it for the third time....." Carole
"She is savouring it by reading it slowly and is certain that when finished, she will read it again and again.....: Judy
